VENICE, Fla. (WFLA) — A boat ramp in Venice is currently closed after an incident involving a pickup truck and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Venice Police Department reports that the truck was being used to load a flats boat onto a trailer around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when it accidentally shifted into reverse, plunging into the water.
The Marina Boat Ramp, located adjacent to the Historic Venice Train Depot, is closed while Sea Tow Venice, along with a Venice Wrecker service, works to retrieve the submerged vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. As of now, officials have not provided an estimated timeframe for when the boat ramp will reopen.
