Punta Gorda stands out as a charming small city that seamlessly blends historic architecture with modern growth, framed by stunning waterfronts. Additionally, the recently opened Sunseeker Resort across the bridge has sparked some debate. Despite initial skepticism about its location, the resort quickly became a hit, leaving behind beloved local spots like Harpoon Harry’s and Captain’s Table. These are set to be replaced by two exciting new dining venues: Castaway’s and Latitude 26 at Fisherman’s Village. You can learn more details at Dine. Stay. According to Gulfshore Business magazine, new restaurants are on the way at Fishermen’s Village. Castaways will inhabit the space once occupied by Harpoon Harry’s, featuring an island-style ambiance, updated menus, and a redesigned layout, including a bar with stunning 180-degree waterfront views. Latitude 26°, taking the place of The Captain’s Table, promises a fresh vibe and beautiful views of Charlotte Harbor, aiming to maintain the friendly atmosphere that locals treasure. Both establishments are slated to welcome guests in early 2026.
Meanwhile, the Sunseeker Resort is in the midst of a significant transition. Current owner Allegiant Travel Company plans to sell the resort to Blackstone Real Estate for a hefty $200 million. This announcement highlights the growing confidence in the hospitality and travel sectors, particularly for destinations designed for group gatherings.
The Sunseeker Resort features 785 rooms sprawled across 22 waterfront acres along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Guests can enjoy a wealth of amenities, from multiple dining options to two pools, a spa, fitness center, a rooftop pool and bar, a championship golf course, and over 60,000 square feet of indoor meeting space.
Scott Trebilco, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone Real Estate, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “This brand new, highly-amenitized resort aligns with our strong belief in hospitality and the sustained growth of group-oriented destinations. Allegiant has created an impressive property and we look forward to enhancing it further.”
Allegiant’s CEO, Gregory C. Anderson, also noted that Blackstone’s extensive experience in hospitality makes them ideal partners for maximizing the resort’s potential. The sale aligns with Allegiant’s strategy, with plans to use the proceeds for debt repayment and enhancing their overall financial standing.
The transaction, advised by Barclays, is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2025, contingent on customary conditions.
