MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — A tragic car accident in Manatee County has claimed the lives of two teenagers and left two others seriously injured early Saturday morning, as reported by authorities.
The Florida Highway Patrol indicates that a 19-year-old male from Ellenton was driving a Dodge Charger at a high speed southbound on Silverleaf Avenue, near U.S. Highway 301, around 2:15 a.m.
In a devastating turn, the Charger veered off the roadway and collided with several trees, according to troopers.
Both the driver and a passenger, a 19-year-old male from Parrish, lost their lives in the crash.
Meanwhile, two other individuals—a 17-year-old male from Parrish and a 16-year-old female from New York—are currently in critical and serious condition, respectively.
The report highlighted that only the female passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
Rep. Juan Carlos Porras, a South Florida lawmaker from Miami, has suggested it may be time to reconsider the relevance of homeowners associations (HOAs). He noted that more Floridians are expressing concerns regarding escalating fees, expensive legal battles, and even arrests linked to HOA disputes. This week, he mentioned that he is contemplating introducing legislation in the next session to abolish HOAs statewide.
