SARASOTA, Fla. — On Thursday, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) revealed the arrest of two men earlier this week on charges related to illegal gambling activities.
The arrests took place on September 2 at the Magic Arcade, located in the 5600 block of Swift Road, following a collaborative investigation by the SCSO and the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC). The individuals detained are 28-year-old Mevin Rodrigues and 30-year-old Dylan Cardoso.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the Magic Arcade after conducting an extensive investigation. Rodrigues and Cardoso are facing serious charges, including possession of slot machines and maintaining a gambling house, as reported by the SCSO.
During the operation, FGCC agents seized a total of 117 slot machines, alongside significant amounts of currency. Additionally, authorities disclosed that Rodrigues and Cardoso are currently residing in the U.S. illegally, having had their visas revoked. Both are now held at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
