On Wednesday, August 13, Enos announced his departure from the school board to take on the role of chief of police for the Sarasota County Schools Police Department (SCSPD).
With over 30 years of law enforcement experience, Enos expressed that his “deepest passion” lies in ensuring the safety of students and staff. This new position will enable him to concentrate fully on that mission.
Superintendent Terry Connor remarked, “Mr. Enos’s unmatched expertise in school safety, his deep knowledge of this department, and his commitment to protecting our students and staff make him the ideal choice for this critical position.”

Throughout his career, Enos has held several significant positions, including Executive Director of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers. He has also led safety enhancements for Sarasota County Schools and testified before the Florida Legislature about school safety in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, along with previously serving as SCSPD chief.

Under Florida law, the vacancy left by Enos must be filled by a gubernatorial appointment, meaning that Governor Ron DeSantis will appoint a new District 5 School Board member.
