An arrest warrant for Jacques Gentis, 21, was issued in January, but he successfully evaded law enforcement, igniting a protracted hunt that involved more than 10 search warrants, 25 subpoenas, and numerous tips from Crime Stoppers.
Gentis faced four outstanding arrest warrants in Sarasota County for charges including armed burglary and shooting a missile into a structure, in addition to one warrant in Charlotte County.
Following considerable efforts from the sheriff’s office, the U.S. Marshals Service, and other agencies, Gentis was located in upstate New York.
He was apprehended on August 28 without incident and currently remains in Yates County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition back to Florida.
