SARASOTA, FL — A registered sex offender has been arrested following an incident where he attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl into his vehicle on Sunday night, as reported by the Sarasota Police Department.
Mark McGoldrick now faces charges of aggravated stalking of a child under 16, in addition to loitering and prowling as a sexual offender near minors. The young girl managed to capture the disturbing encounter on video prior to escaping and later positively identified McGoldrick in a police photo lineup.
Authorities discovered that McGoldrick had allegedly been stalking the same girl for nearly a year, frequently approaching her when she was alone at her school bus stop, according to the police report.
McGoldrick was apprehended at his residence and is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail.
