SARASOTA, Fla. — A man is now facing serious charges, including homicide, following a shooting that tragically resulted in the death of one woman and left another man injured.
According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday near North Washington Boulevard. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Grevil Vicente Bonilla Enamorado, allegedly brandished a firearm and discharged multiple rounds.
Investigators noted that several groups were reportedly engaged in a confrontation in the vicinity at the time of the shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found that bystanders had already detained Enamorado until officers could take over.
One woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the injured man was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, according to the Sarasota Police Department (SPD).
Authorities are still investigating the circumstance surrounding the relationship, if any, between Enamorado and the victims.
Enamorado now faces charges of homicide and aggravated battery with a firearm.
