Personnel from the Sarasota Police Department received prestigious quarterly awards from Police Chief Rex Troche. These recognitions are held privately and are not publicly announced.
Those honored include detectives Maria Llovio and Jessica Sullivan, crime scene investigator Marissa Zacarolli, along with sergeants Jeffrey Ball, Travis Forrister, and Charles Riffe.
Detectives Llovio and Sullivan were commended for their life-saving efforts while investigating an attempted murder case. They found a non-responsive witness in a restroom and promptly performed CPR until EMS arrived, ultimately saving the individual’s life. For their actions, they were awarded the Lifesaving Award.

Crime Scene Investigator Zacarolli distinguished herself through her forensic work on complex cases, including a traffic fatality and armed robbery. Her efforts significantly contributed to suspect identification within hours. As a certified drone pilot, she also supports drone operations and has been named the Civilian Employee of the Quarter.

After a homicide occurred in February, sergeants Ball, Forrister, and Riffe showcased exceptional leadership as they traveled to Louisiana to recover key evidence and assist in securing the crime scene within the critical first 48 hours. They were honored as Sworn Co-Supervisors of the Quarter.
Chief Troche remarked, “The actions of (the award recipients) exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and compassion. Whether it’s solving a homicide, identifying a violent suspect in hours, or saving a life during a medical emergency, these individuals went above and beyond the call of duty.”
He added, “Their teamwork, determination, and dedication to public safety reflect the true spirit of the Sarasota Police Department. I’m incredibly proud to recognize their outstanding service to our community.”
