NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) — In a commendable act of community service, North Port police officers stepped in when two residents discovered their mailboxes had been vandalized overnight. The incident occurred on Saturday along the 7800 block of Meroni Boulevard, where the police responded to separate hit-and-run incidents.

According to a social media post from the North Port Police Department, B Squad officers swiftly conducted investigations into the matter. However, instead of simply filing a report, they decided to take meaningful action to help the affected residents. Pooling their own resources, the officers purchased new mailboxes and an assortment of supplies, and then worked together to install the replacements personally.

While the officers focused on repairing the damage done, the department is still seeking information on the individual(s) responsible for the destruction. Community members with any leads are encouraged to contact the North Port Police Department at 941-429-7300.
