Sarasota Man Charged with 13 Counts of Child Pornography Possession

TAMPA – A Sarasota man has been charged with 13 counts of child pornography possession following a thorough investigation by Sarasota detectives.

The backstory:

In March, Sarasota police received a notification from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force focusing on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The tip indicated two files of suspected child pornography were uploaded from a home in Sarasota.

After verifying the videos contained child porn, detectives executed a search warrant.

On Thursday, authorities arrived at a residence on the 1900 block of Tulip Drive, leading to the arrest of 29-year-old Colton Berman.

While searching devices inside Berman’s home, detectives uncovered messages where he requested and shared child pornography. More explicit materials were also found.

Berman was booked into Sarasota County Jail but has been released on bond.
