Sarasota Luxury RV Business Provides Rental ‘Land Yachts’

Date:

Key Information

  • Founder: Michael Bloomquist
  • Company: LiTRV (Luxury in Travel RV)
  • Established: 2016
  • Annual Revenue: Approximately $1 million
  • Fleet Size: 8-10 luxury motorcoaches
  • Services Offered: Luxury RV rentals, one-way trips, private events
  • Pricing: Starts at $15,000 for a three-day trip

When Michael Bloomquist’s in-laws asked him to sell their RV about 15 years ago, he had no idea the experience would lead him to start a company.

Bloomquist recalls, “I kept getting calls,” but they were not from buyers interested in purchasing the RV; they were inquiries about leasing it. “I couldn’t understand why people wanted to rent this thing.” Eventually, he learned one caller was seeking a motorcoach for a group of investment bankers heading to the Super Bowl. With his background in hospitality from working in Hawaii, he provided a luxurious experience, earning $5,800 for one day’s work.

This sparked his interest, leading him to consult for Goss RV, a company with the largest fleet of luxury motorcoaches in the U.S. About a decade ago, a client named Robert Novak encouraged Bloomquist to launch his own venture.

Now, Bloomquist is a co-owner of LiTRV, pronounced “Lit RV,” based in Sarasota. The company focuses on high-end motorcoaches and curated travel experiences.

LiTRV began modestly in 2016 but experienced significant growth during the pandemic when people sought alternatives to cruises and urban travel. “We were in the right spot at the right time,” Bloomquist states.

The business has been generating around $1 million in revenue each year, with its headquarters in Sarasota and additional locations in Arizona.

Managing Luxury

The fleet comprises 8 to 10 luxury motorcoaches, primarily owned by private individuals. LiTRV manages these vehicles and takes a 50/50 net profit share with the owners. The coaches vary in price; while most are about $500,000, some exceed $3 million.

These motorcoaches are not ordinary RVs; they come equipped with high-end features like fireplaces and Viking appliances. Each rental also includes a CDL driver who stays at an Airbnb during the trip.

Pricing for these luxury experiences starts at $15,000 for three days, with some trips costing over $100,000.

Affluent Clientele

Bloomquist describes their clientele as “affluent,” indicating that most don’t typically go to campgrounds or RV resorts. About 40% of their business comes from leisure travel, with another 40% from one-way trips, particularly noted in 2024.

The motorcoaches offer a smooth travel experience with amenities that allow clients to work or relax along the way. “We have seen snowbirds using our services to travel between Northeastern states and Florida,” Bloomquist adds.

Growing Business

Most customers discover LiTRV through online searches. Bloomquist shares that they currently have more requests than they can handle and are on the lookout for additional motorcoach owners to manage.

Looking to the future, Bloomquist says LiTRV plans to diversify its offerings by exploring RV parking and storage, as well as packages for shorter trips.

“Five to 10 days is kind of the sweet spot,” he explains, acknowledging the increase in inquiries for shorter journeys. The company is also excited about local event packages slated for 2026.

“It could be a hospitality tailgate package for a Buccaneers game,” he adds, hinting at expanding their service offerings in Florida.
