Sarasota County Welcomes New Inflatable Adventure Park with a Beach Theme

A brand new family-friendly indoor inflatable attraction is opening in south Sarasota County. Do The Beach Adventure Park is set to launch on September 20 in North Port.

This expansive 21,000-square-foot venue, once a Winn-Dixie, has been transformed into a beach-themed park brimming with inflatables at 14265 S. Tamiami Trail.

According to co-owner Mike Whincup, guests enter via a wooden boardwalk leading to epoxy flooring that mimics shimmering sand, creating an immersive beach experience, as he described in a September 19 interview with the Business Observer.

An inflatable obstacle course coils around a quarter of the park like a rollercoaster, while other areas simulate the feel of being surrounded by water, complete with giant waves overhead. Attractions include a sandcastle slide, climbing section, sunken pirate ship, big wave ninja challenge, a sandcastle throne, and an under-the-sea toddler zone.

“The entire park is themed as a day at the beach,” Whincup states. Several influencers attended a soft opening, with guests noting there is something for everyone. “To receive that feedback means I’ve done my job as a designer and brand creator,” he adds.

Nearly 40 staff members have been employed to keep operations running smoothly, with additional hires expected, Whincup mentions.

On opening day, the park anticipates 300 to 375 visitors between 10 a.m. and noon, with the first hour already sold out.

Whincup describes Do The Beach Adventure Park as a “labor of love,” a project that took years of planning and about six to seven months to bring to fruition. The final two weeks required extensive hours of work.

“We are thrilled to open such a fantastic facility for this community that has long been underserved in terms of entertainment options,” says Whincup, who is co-owning the business with his son, Robin Whincup, alongside franchise partners Tony and Michelle Fisher.

With extensive experience in the industry, the Whincups have designed numerous attractions for adventure parks through their company, Galaxy Multi Rides of Port Charlotte. “We’ve developed over 100 parks in the last six years,” he mentioned to the Business Observer earlier this year.

Their company designs a variety of attractions, from mechanical bulls to inflatable obstacle courses, and has proven to be a cost-effective and popular revenue generator compared to starting a trampoline park.

The Whincups aspire to franchise Do The Beach Adventure Parks, having already signed agreements for developments in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.

“I’m eager to see how this concept is received in areas that lack beaches like Florida,” Whincup adds.

Admission starts at $13.99 for toddlers and parents, while other guests can enter for $19.99 for an hour of playtime. Multiple options, including 90-minute, two-hour, and all-day passes, are available.

The park employs a wristband system that monitors playtime, offers geo-fencing, and allows guests to make purchases or extend their playtime. Event spaces are also available for parties in locations such as the Sandcastle Suite, Surf Shack, and Cabana Club on the mezzanine.
