“Our ethos is about showing what we stand for, not just what we stand against,” explains Pastor Minor. “Instead of protesting downtown, we can engage our community positively on our private property.”
On Sunday, a crowd gathered to create a pride-themed mural on a crosswalk at the church’s entrance.
“The support from the community, even from people we don’t know, inspires us and makes us feel secure,” shares local resident Rachel Smith.
Robyn Minor conveyed that the intention behind the mural was to foster community spirit. “We wanted to demonstrate our solidarity with our neighbors peacefully, rather than provoke conflict,” she states.
Pastor Minor aspires to motivate other organizations in Sarasota to explore similar creative expressions on private property. “We have ample space for murals here and hope to inspire more projects,” he adds.
