Sarasota Bar Achieves National Acclaim as One of the Top Bars in the Country

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — A popular Sarasota bar, The Old Salty Dog, has recently gained recognition as one of the best bars in America after reopening following extensive closures due to hurricane damage.

Included in USA Today’s Bars of the Year list, The Old Salty Dog stands out among 29 selected bars.

Since its establishment in 1991 on Sarasota’s City Island, The Old Salty Dog has crafted a unique atmosphere, merging the charm of a British pub with the relaxed vibe of a Florida beach bar, as noted by USA Today.

A visit to The Old Salty Dog wouldn’t be complete without indulging in its famed deep-fried hot dog, a menu item that gained fame after being featured on the popular show “Man v. Food.”

Mary Lou’s in West Palm Beach is the only other Florida bar to make it onto this prestigious list.
