SARASOTA, Fla. — A Nokomis man tragically lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck on September 19 while attempting to cross a roadway in Sarasota County, according to local authorities.
The incident was detailed in a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report stating that a 31-year-old man from Nokomis was driving the pickup truck southbound on Mission Valley Boulevard, approaching the intersection with Pinto Circle around 8 p.m.
The victim, a 63-year-old resident of Nokomis, was reportedly running along the westbound lane of Pinto Circle, nearing the intersection with Mission Valley Boulevard. As he tried to cross the travel lanes of the boulevard directly in front of the oncoming truck, he was struck, leading to his immediate death at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
