TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Todd Hoch, the owner of a now-defunct Sarasota window company, has been arrested for the second time this month amidst allegations of fraud. He is currently under investigation by Better Call Behnken.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Hoch faces 27 counts of fraud, including embezzlement and misappropriation of funds. He is being held without bond.
This latest arrest follows an earlier one this month in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte on similar allegations.
Clients in Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte counties reported that Hoch’s company, Sash & Sill, accepted substantial down payments but failed to fulfill their commitments. The company shuttered operations in the summer of 2024, leaving many projects unfinished.
Consumers noted that not only did they pay significant deposits, but Hoch’s company also neglected to apply for necessary permits for the jobs.
In a recent communication to his customers, Hoch expressed regret over the closure:
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Sash & Sill has closed its doors permanently. This difficult decision comes because of unforeseen circumstances that have significantly impacted our financial stability, forcing us to file for bankruptcy. I have exhausted my personal and business resources in efforts to overcome the situation. We are currently working on getting as many of your projects completed as possible. We will reach out with any updates that are specific to your project. The office has been closed to reduce overhead and all non-production staff are no longer with us. I want to express my deepest apologies. I am truly heartbroken over the situation. Sincerely, Todd Hoch.”
As investigations continue, customers hope for justice and restitution.
