A new eatery specializing in crepes and sweet treats is set to open soon in The Meadows community of Sarasota.
Owned by Darin Abdel, Crepetopia draws inspiration from her love for desserts and aims to provide something “unique” to Sarasota. Abdel is committed to creating a space that is both international and family-friendly.
“Crepes felt like the perfect base since they can be enjoyed in so many creative ways,” Abdel stated in an email to the Business Observer. The menu features an array of sweet crepes, including strawberry Nutella, pistachio, and cinnamon toast crunch crepes, all drizzled with chocolate or Lotus butter made from crushed Lotus Biscoff cookies.
Additionally, the menu showcases waffles, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, chocolate-dipped strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, cream puffs, Dubai-inspired desserts, and milkshakes.
“The Dubai-inspired section of the menu reflects my Middle Eastern roots and travels,” Abdel explained. “It features flavors like pistachio, Lotus, Kataifi, and chocolate-stuffed cookies—desserts typically found in Dubai cafés but with our own unique twist.” (Note: Kataifi refers to phyllo dough.)
Crepetopia is located at 4921 Ringwood Meadow in The Meadows. Spanning approximately 2,500 square feet, the shop will accommodate 24 guests inside and 20 outside. The choice of location was influenced by the scenic water views, walkability, and proximity to UTC.
“It really felt like the right community to grow something special,” said Abdel.
The grand opening of Crepetopia is scheduled for September 20, with a soft opening beginning on September 15.
