Motorcyclist fatally injured in Venice collision

VENICE, Fla. (WFLA) — Tragedy struck on Friday in Venice as a motorcyclist lost his life in a collision on Englewood Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The victim, a 60-year-old man from Venice, was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was heading south when the incident occurred.

At the same time, a truck towing a trailer, driven by a 53-year-old man from Cape Coral, was stationary in the left turn lane. The motorcyclist attempted to navigate around the stopped traffic and entered the left turn lane, colliding with the rear of the trailer.

The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting the rider. Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s traffic homicide unit has taken over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.
