Marilyn Grace Dwight, a beloved resident of Sarasota, peacefully passed away at Shepherd’s Landing in Sunnyside Village on September 12, 2025, at 91 years old. Known as Mamos and Mimi to many, she led a full and vibrant life, marking significant milestones along the way.

Born on August 30, 1934, in Elnora, Indiana, Marilyn was the daughter of Ora and Mildred (Edmondson) Carmichael. In her early 20s, she relocated to Youngstown, Ohio, where she married Felix J. Charlotte in 1955 and began her family. She proudly supported and volunteered at the Youngstown Playhouse, fostering her passion for the arts.

In 1973, Marilyn moved to Venice, Florida, where she became an investor in the Ramblers Rest Campground and embarked on a distinguished 30+ year career as an administrative assistant for Sarasota County Administration. Starting her journey at Venice Library, she later worked at Selby Library on the Bay, and contributed to various departments, including Payroll at the Ringling Administration facility, before retiring in the early 2000s from Parks and Rec at Twin Lakes Park. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to building lasting relationships with her co-workers, always making them feel valued.

Marilyn’s caring and thoughtful nature extended beyond her work life; she often assisted in caring for fellow residents at Shepherd’s Landing, showcasing her empathy and kindness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and Robert Carmichael, sister Naomi (Ruth) Brothers, her daughter Debra Lynn Conrad (Charlotte), and former husbands Felix Charlotte and Lonnie Earl Estes. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Virginia) Charlotte, grandchildren Christina (fiancé Tyler Gardner), Marisa, and Sabrina (Matt) DeMasi, great-grandchildren Declan James and Luca Joseph DeMasi, as well as nieces and nephews, including Cindi Brothers, Nancy Cadreau, and David Brothers, among others.

The Charlotte family extends their heartfelt thanks to Shepherd’s Landing memory care facility and its dedicated caregivers, whose compassion allowed Marilyn to maintain a sense of purpose and dignity until her final moments. Their unwavering love and support greatly touched her life.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled at Sunnyside Village’s Chapel, located at 5201 Bahia Vista Street in Sarasota, Florida, on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception in the Community Room.
