In a recent communication to families and staff, the school district announced the arrest of Daniel Armando Munive Viruet, a 41-year-old resource teacher, by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Records from the Hillsborough County Jail indicate that Munive Viruet is a resident of Wimauma and is currently held without bond.
Following his arrest, the school district has placed Munive Viruet on administrative leave. The district confirmed that he has been absent from campus since Monday, September 22, and will not have any contact with students moving forward.
The district reassured stakeholders that it is collaborating with law enforcement throughout the investigation and stated that there is no indication that any students were involved in the incident.
“We condemn the actions alleged in this case, which stand in direct opposition to the values of the School District of Manatee County,” the email further asserted. “Our counselors are available to support students and staff as needed. The safety and well-being of our students will remain our highest priority.”
