Grand Opening of Under One Roof Gateway South
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (September 3, 2025) — Manatee County Government is excited to announce the grand opening of Under One Roof Gateway South, a new shelter and recovery center aimed at empowering women to overcome challenges related to addiction, homelessness, and trauma. This facility will provide a safe, supportive environment and essential services all in one location.
The official ribbon cutting and Open House event will take place on October 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Under One Roof Gateway South Shelter, located at 407 57th Ave. E., Bradenton, FL. This initiative, staffed and programmed through Helping Up Mission (HUM), is designed to complement the efforts of local partners such as Turning Points, Centerstone, the Salvation Army, and Fresh Start Manatee, creating a compassionate network of care in Manatee County.
Commissioner Amanda Ballard, a strong advocate for the project, stated, “This project turns a former Sheriff’s Office building into a center of profound healing. We’ve come a long way—together—with the shared commitment of transforming lives and building a gateway to lasting hope.”
Daniel Stoltzfus, CEO of HUM, expressed their commitment to addressing the urgent shelter needs for women in the community, saying, “Helping Up Mission is honored to lead this collaborative effort and also provide a pathway into our long-term addiction recovery program. We appreciate Manatee County’s proactive approach in addressing these critical community needs.”
The facility, partially funded by opioid settlement dollars, HUD’s HOME-ARP Program, and County contributions, offers:
- Safe and secure accommodations for women in recovery
- Supportive services, case management, and healthcare coordination
- Therapeutic spaces and technological infrastructure
- Design that is protected, respectful, and trauma-informed
Guests attending the event will have the unique opportunity to tour the facility and engage with County officials and service providers.
