Man Taken Into Custody After Crash That Resulted in One Fatality and One Hospitalization in Bradenton

Date:

BRADENTON, Fla. — A man has been arrested following a crash in Manatee County that resulted in one death and another person hospitalized on Monday night. Police have identified the driver as Milton May, 52, who was heading home in his pickup truck after visiting a local establishment shortly before 10:15 p.m.

As he drove east on 42nd Avenue West, May reportedly collided with a motorcycle traveling north on 59th Street West. The incident tragically claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle, while the rider, a 28-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital as a trauma alert, where he is currently in the ICU.

Authorities noted that May remained at the scene and exhibited signs of impairment, but he declined to undergo field sobriety tests. Subsequently, he was arrested and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Police obtained a warrant to collect a blood sample from May, and the results of the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) test are still pending. He faces charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI with serious bodily injury and will be processed at the Manatee County Jail once he is medically cleared. Additional charges may also be forthcoming.

“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”

South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) is advocating for the potential abolition of homeowner associations (HOAs), as increasing numbers of Floridians express concerns over escalating fees, costly legal battles, and even arrests stemming from HOA disputes. He announced plans to consider introducing legislation in the next session aimed at eliminating HOAs throughout the state.
