PALMETTO, FL — Authorities have charged the boyfriend of a woman found shot to death on Sunday evening in Palmetto with murder.

Officers were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to the 1400 block of 12th Avenue West following reports of gunfire, as confirmed by a news release from the Palmetto Police Department.

Upon arrival, they spoke with witnesses who directed them to a nearby driveway where they discovered the victim, 30-year-old Blanca Guzman Bartolon, dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the witnesses, they had received a phone call from Bartolon, expressing a need to be picked up from her home due to her boyfriend, Cilas Roblero Morales, 25, being “armed and acting aggressively.”

When they arrived at her home in Palmetto, Roblero Morales allegedly opened fire on them and Bartolon, resulting in her injuries. The witnesses fled the scene to escape the gunfire.

Following the incident, Roblero Morales was seen fleeing westward from the location. He was later apprehended at the Manatee County Fairgrounds by law enforcement officers utilizing a K-9 unit and helicopter.

He was taken into custody without resistance, and a gun, believed to be the weapon used in the murder, was recovered nearby.

Roblero Morales has since been booked into the Manatee County Jail, facing one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
