BRADENTON, FL — In an unusual incident early Sunday morning, a man walked into a BP gas station on Manatee Avenue with an intriguing tale, according to Bradenton police.
Around 3:20 a.m., the man claimed he had awoken in the passenger seat of his pickup truck, which was partially submerged in water at the State Road 64 boat ramp.
Upon investigation, officers located the truck in the water, confirmed it was unoccupied aside from the man, and determined it belonged to him. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Authorities discovered that the truck had veered off the eastbound lanes of Manatee Avenue, rolled down an embankment, and ended up in the mangroves. The boat ramp parking area remained closed until approximately 7:45 a.m.
