MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — On September 12, a man was arrested for drunk driving after fatally hitting a pedestrian in Manatee County, according to authorities.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) identified Arnulfo Carranza Dominguez, 38, as the driver charged with DUI, operating without a driver’s license resulting in a death, and fleeing the scene of a fatal accident.
As detailed in a report from FHP, Dominguez was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck northbound on 15th Street East, just north of 49th Avenue East, around 8:02 p.m. He struck a 46-year-old male pedestrian who was walking in the same lane.
Following the collision, Dominguez reportedly fled the scene. FHP officials stated he was later involved in another traffic incident on 9th Street East, near 44th Avenue East, before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was located and arrested shortly thereafter.
Furthermore, Dominguez, who is categorized as an illegal alien, faced additional charges, including leaving the scene of a crash that caused property damage and DUI with property damage. He was subsequently booked into the Manatee County Jail.
