The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has arrested 44-year-old Juanita M. Pendell as part of their investigation into a homicide and arson case. The arrest follows a fire incident that took place early Tuesday morning.

According to deputies, at approximately 1 a.m., both the Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) and the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene at 255 North Tamiami Trail due to a fire affecting a camper. Upon entering the structure, fire crews discovered an individual who was unconscious and not breathing.

Despite efforts to revive the man, he was pronounced dead at 1:48 a.m. The details surrounding the incident are still under investigation, and authorities are working to uncover further information.
