BRADENTON, Fla. — Detectives from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) have successfully shut down an illegal gambling arcade known as The Good Times Arcade, located at 105 Cortez Road West. This announcement was made on Friday following an investigation prompted by a tip-off and subsequent undercover visits.
According to MCSO, the establishment was found to be illegally operating electronic slot and gaming machines. On August 14, authorities confiscated 55 full-style arcade video slot machines, 27 computers, and various other electronic equipment linked to illegal gaming activities. Additionally, over $160,000 in unlawful proceeds was seized during the raid.
While no arrests were made at the time, MCSO confirmed that the business owner is currently under investigation, with potential charges forthcoming. Prior to the raid, detectives issued a cease-and-desist letter to the management of Good Times Arcade, signaling that illegal activities were taking place.
The investigation remains ongoing, as officials continue to monitor the situation.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
These remarks come from South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami), who suggests abolishing homeowner associations (HOAs) statewide due to increasing discontent over rising fees and costly disputes. He indicated this week that he is considering filing relevant legislation in the upcoming session.
