The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the tragic death of a girl who was pulled from a Sarasota County storm drain.
On Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office reported that a child was playing near a culvert on Bahia Vista Street when she was swept into the drainage system by the strong current. After a search, she was discovered approximately 100 yards downstream.

The Sarasota County Fire Department quickly responded, and the child was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, SCSO officials later announced that the child had passed away on Thursday.
