SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tragedy struck in Sarasota as a young girl named Zaria was swept into a drainage system due to a water main break. Her passing has been confirmed through a GoFundMe page initiated by a close family friend.

“It is with a broken heart I have to share that Zaria has received the ultimate healing, and is in the arms of Jesus,” read an emotional update on the GoFundMe page on Thursday.

Zaria Miller was playing outside when the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident was triggered by a water main break that happened around 6:15 p.m. on Bahia Vista Street. The force of the rushing water pulled Miller approximately 100 yards through the drainage system.

First responders swiftly arrived at the scene and transported her to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

In the wake of this tragedy, donations began to flow in rapidly to support Miller’s family through the GoFundMe campaign. Within less than a day, it raised over $16,500.
