Florida woman reports potential scam to police and walks away with $100,000 windfall.

Date:

A Florida woman, Barb, recently discovered a surprising windfall of over $100,000 after reaching out to the Bradenton Police Department (BPD) to report what she initially thought was a scam.

Barb contacted a detective after receiving numerous proposals from law firms and private investigators, who claimed they could help her claim money she believed she didn’t deserve. These companies had identified her as a potential target because she was associated with unclaimed property listed by the Florida Department of Financial Services.

Thanks to the efforts of BPD, a search of the unclaimed property database revealed that Barb held more than $100,000 in stock dividends from her previous employer, a company she had worked for over 30 years ago.

The detective guided Barb in completing the necessary paperwork, leading to a check being sent to her for $108,000, according to BPD.
