A recent study conducted by personal injury law firm Shook & Stone has identified Florida as the most dangerous state for motorcyclists during morning hours. Analyzing motorcycle crash data from the Crash Data Analysis & Statistics (CDAN) portal covering 2019 to 2023, the research highlighted that Florida’s morning motorcycle crash rate significantly exceeds the national average.
Florida reported an alarming rate of 3.07 morning motorcycle crashes per million residents, which is 118% above the national average of 1.41. With a population averaging 21.9 million during this period, the state experienced around 67 morning motorcycle crashes annually.
A spokesperson from Shook & Stone remarked on the findings, stating:
“The study reveals a deeply concerning trend in motorcycle crash rates across states like Florida. However, many of these incidents can be prevented through better infrastructure, driver awareness, and enforcement of traffic safety laws. These findings should act as a wake-up call for state transportation departments, lawmakers, and public safety agencies to invest in safer road conditions, better driver education, and targeted interventions to protect motorcyclists, especially during the high-risk morning hours.”
