In a shocking development, five suspects from Miami have been arrested on serious charges, including murder, related to a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Sarasota in 2023, according to deputies.
The accused individuals are Antonio Carbonell, 38; Allen Hunt, 29; Samuel Rosemond, 22, and Micheal Trillo, 22, all facing multiple charges including second-degree felony murder. Additionally, Edwin Norris, 31, faces felony murder charges along with 20 counts of traveling to commit burglary.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office revealed that in April 2023, the five men arrived in Sarasota with the intent to steal catalytic converters from parked vehicles at a local business.
During their criminal activities, the suspects successfully stole 22 catalytic converters, valued at approximately $94,000.
Upon notification of the burglary, the suspects attempted to evade law enforcement in an Audi but ran a red light, colliding with a motorcyclist.
In a grave turn of events, the suspects failed to offer assistance after the collision, leading to tragic consequences as the motorcyclist, identified as 21-year-old Leonardo Adams, succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Investigators revealed that Norris drove the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, with Hunt, Trillo, and Rosemond as passengers. Carbonell was reportedly operating a second vehicle during the incident.
Currently, Carbonell, Norris, and Rosemond have been denied bail and remain incarcerated at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility. Meanwhile, Hunt and Trillo are in Miami-Dade County, with Trillo facing charges of attempted murder from a separate 2023 incident. Plans are underway to extradite them to Sarasota.
