BRADENTON, Fla. — This week’s A+ Teacher is Hailey Cosby from Samoset Elementary School in Bradenton. Despite being only in her third year of teaching, Cosby has distinguished herself through her dedication and innovative approach to education. Her fifth-grade classroom is both a calming and enjoyable space for her students to learn.
“I do what I can to make it fun for them,” Cosby explained. “I spend weeks preparing and setting it up, give them prizes and snacks, and ensure they have what they need. These kids deserve to have a fun learning environment just like everyone else.”
On this particular day, her students were focusing on their math skills—a subject that can be quite challenging. However, with Ms. Cosby guiding them, they felt well-supported. She takes pride in being a reliable adult in her students’ lives, saying, “Seeing that lightbulb turn on for them, especially if they haven’t had anyone in the past who believed in them, is amazing.”

Samoset Elementary School is a Title I school, presenting additional challenges for educators. Cosby, however, faces these challenges with enthusiasm. She interned at Samoset before becoming a teacher there and feels deeply connected to the school community. “If you’re passionate about it—and I truly am—then it’s what you’re meant to do,” she said.
Her commitment is evident; she pours her heart into teaching, inspiring her students to invest equally in their learning.
