BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – Neighbors of a woman who tragically lost her 4-year-old grandson in a house fire in Bradenton earlier this month are coming together to raise funds for the family.
The daughter of the affected woman, Tara Horsely, 48, sustained serious injuries in the fire that occurred on June 14 on 53rd Avenue West and is currently hospitalized. Her son, Logan Hajimihalis, lost his life in the incident.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the boy’s parents were unable to reach him during the fire, which is believed to be accidental.
Horsley is employed at Pet Resort Animal Clinic in Bradenton. Her colleague, Andrea Colon, expressed the emotional impact of the situation. “I can’t even fathom what Tara and her family are experiencing,” she stated. “We’re all just heartbroken.”
Colon described Logan as “full of energy, vibrant, and lovable. He was a true shining star. Tara has the biggest heart one could ever imagine,” she remarked.
A neighbor of Tara’s mother has established a GoFundMe page to assist with Tara’s medical recovery and to honor Logan’s legacy. “As a single mom without insurance, I also want to help with funeral costs for Logan. Any assistance is greatly appreciated,” the page states.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the fundraising site reported over $3,700 raised, which includes a generous $1,000 donation from Cedar Hammock firefighters who responded to the fire.
