A small child was playing near a culvert when strong water flow unexpectedly pulled them into the drainage system, according to deputies.
The child was later found approximately 100 yards west on Bahia Vista St. and was quickly transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after being carried through the drain.
This incident occurred following a significant water main break at 5433 Bahia Vista St.
Public Works personnel are currently on-site to address the ongoing water main break.
