Bradenton Man Charged with DUI and Aggravated Assault Following Burnout at City Intersection

Date:

[ad_1]

The Bradenton Police Department reported that a man who was trying to show off ended up drawing unwarranted attention, resulting in his arrest.

Juan Leon, 28, is facing multiple charges after performing a burnout at a downtown intersection.

Bradenton Police Chief Josh Cramer described the stunt as foolish.

What they’re saying:

“I always emphasize the importance of decision-making. This individual made the choice to drive drunk, recklessly towards officers, and endangering pedestrians leaving nearby bars,” Cramer noted.

Members of the Bradenton Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team were nearby and heard the revving engine. They caught up just in time to witness Leon’s burnout.

“That’s over 100 feet of burnout. It will lead to thousands of dollars in damage to the crosswalk along with man hours for cleanup. Just a senseless choice,” Cramer added.

Leon claimed to officers that the stunt was intended to ‘impress girls.’

“That’s ridiculous. Make smarter choices. Do better,” advised Cramer.

Consequently, Leon now faces multiple charges including DUI, reckless driving, and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

“If your goal is to attract attention, the only attention you will gain is from law enforcement,” Cramer concluded.

What’s next:

Leon has since bonded out of the Manatee County Jail and has pleaded not guilty. His arraignment is scheduled for October 31.
