BRADENTON BEACH, Fla. (WWSB) – In preparation for the July 4-6 weekend, Bradenton Beach has issued a local state of emergency following a request from Police Chief John Crosby.
Crosby aims to proactively manage the anticipated influx of visitors after encountering a significant number of individuals disregarding “no parking” signs during Memorial Day. “While there’s nothing alarming, we want to stay ahead of the curve,” Crosby stated.
This local state of emergency declaration enables the allocation of additional financial resources toward ensuring public safety and the overall well-being of the community. With an increased number of officers available and additional overtime pay, Crosby is confident that the city will be adequately prepared.
Local businesses, including restaurants and retail shops, are also dealing with challenges posed by beachgoers ignoring parking regulations. Local parking lot attendant Dwayne Hammer remarked on the impact for retailers: “There are 52 parking spots in this lot,” he shared with ABC7. “If eight of them are taken by beachgoers, we lose eight potential customers,” he added.
