Body of Swimmer Discovered Near Anna Maria Island, According to Manatee County Sheriff

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Authorities have reported that the body of a missing swimmer has likely been recovered from waters just west of Anna Maria Island, as stated in a Tuesday morning announcement from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are currently engaged in the process of identifying the individual and contacting family members.

The swimmer reportedly got swept away by the tide off Bean Point on Sunday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., witnesses observed the man about 100 yards from the beach in the Gulf, according to the sheriff’s office.

He had been swimming alongside another man, who was successfully rescued and brought to shore by nearby individuals, according to the agency.

On Monday, deputies continued their search efforts for the victim utilizing boats, jet skis, and paddleboards.
