BRADENTON, FL — Early Sunday morning, authorities arrested a driver suspected of DUI after he performed a burnout at an intersection, according to a Facebook post by Bradenton police. (Watch a video of the incident below.)
While patrolling 12th Street in downtown Bradenton around 2 a.m., officers heard a vehicle revving its engine and spotted a silver pickup truck speeding southbound. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Juan Leon, swerved to evade both officers and pedestrians. However, he encountered a red light at the intersection with Manatee Avenue.
At this point, Leon executed a burnout, claiming that he did it “to impress girls,” he later told the police. His actions led to his arrest on multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, and aggravated assault for nearly colliding with several pedestrians.
Additionally, due to damage caused to the crosswalk during the incident, Leon faces a charge of criminal mischief, as per the authorities’ report.
