A historic Bradenton building housing Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy, a cornerstone of the community for 130 years, is now available for sale.
Located at 831 Manatee Ave. E., just east of downtown, the property is currently being marketed by owner Philip Farley.
Previously, it was listed by NDC Commercial Real Estate for $3 million as a redevelopment opportunity.
This three-story mixed-use building features several storefronts and includes an attached parking lot.
Jessica Pelot, granddaughter of one of the pharmacy’s founders, clarified via email that the family does not own the property and emphasized, “we are not closing, only the building is up for sale.”
The pharmacy’s origins trace back to Nov. 6, 1894, when J.C. Pelot, J.J. Pelot, and J.F. Stebbins established the Manatee Drug Co., as noted by the Manatee Village Historical Park.
The name changed to Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy in 1925, and it relocated to its current site in 1934. Today, the pharmacy is owned by Robert Pelot, who purchased it from his father, John Crews Pelot.
In 2020, Farley acquired the property from the Pelot family for $1.25 million, according to county property records.
The nearly 100-year-old building experienced significant damage during hurricanes Helene and Milton last year.
