Motorcyclist Dies in Sarasota County Crash
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist in Sarasota County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident involved a motorcycle crashing into the back of a truck that was towing a trailer.
The victim, a 60-year-old man from Venice, was traveling south in the left lane of Englewood Road, north of Cypress Road, when he approached a curve in the road around 1:43 p.m.
In an attempt to maneuver around stopped traffic, the motorcyclist entered the left turn lane, colliding with the truck, which was stopped legally, as confirmed by FHP.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike, which subsequently overturned onto its right side.
Emergency responders transported him to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead hours later, just before 6 p.m., as reported by FHP.
Fortunately, the driver of the truck, a 53-year-old man from Cape Coral, sustained no injuries in the crash.
