MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A tragic accident claimed the lives of two teenagers and left two others with serious injuries in a single-car crash, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, at the intersection of Silverleaf Ave. and US-301 in Parrish. Authorities stated that a Dodge Charger, carrying four occupants, was speeding south on Silverleaf Avenue when it veered off the road and struck multiple trees.
Both the driver, a 19-year-old resident of Ellenton, and a passenger, a 19-year-old from Parrish, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, two additional passengers, a 17-year-old boy from Parrish and a 16-year-old girl from Holtsville, New York, sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
