MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — The medical examiner’s office has confirmed the identity of the decomposed body recovered from a retention pond on August 8 as 18-year-old Giovanni Pelletier, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Identification was established through dental records, though officials noted that further forensic testing was necessary due to the condition of his body.
As of now, the cause of death is undetermined, with toxicology results pending and expected to take several weeks. MCSO reported that detectives are actively following multiple leads regarding the circumstances of Pelletier’s death.
Currently, there are no indications of foul play.
Pelletier’s family recently spoke out about their loss.

“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
