A recent land sale in North Port will pave the way for a new nonprofit public charter school. The transaction, brokered by SVN Commercial Advisory Group, involved the purchase of the property by Imagine School at North Port Inc. for $2.1 million, as confirmed by Sarasota County property records that indicate the closing date was July 31.

The property, located at 1700 E. Price Blvd., consists of four parcels along Price Boulevard. Imagine School at North Port plans to merge its existing upper and lower campuses, currently situated on Toledo Blade Boulevard, into a single new facility at this new site.

The upper campus accommodates roughly 600 students from 6th to 12th grades, while the elementary campus caters to younger students across the boulevard. Overall, the school serves 1,189 students, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Land clearing for the upcoming school building at 1998 Price Blvd. has already commenced, as stated by upper campus Principal John B. Halcomb in a post on the Imagine High School at North Port’s Facebook page. A groundbreaking ceremony is set to be scheduled for September, according to Halcomb’s update on August 20.

Imagine School at North Port is part of a national network comprising over 50 nonprofit public charter schools, focusing on both character development and academics. The institution is state-funded, independently operated, and tuition-free, but there is currently a waiting list for enrollment.

The sale of the Price Boulevard property was facilitated by Tony Veldkamp and Matt Fenske from SVN Commercial Advisory Group, the commercial real estate brokerage responsible for the transaction.
