In the first instance, a homeowner reported ongoing work despite a stop work order, noting that no progress had been made on a permit application submitted several months prior. The city’s representative indicated that the necessary information had yet to be received, suggesting the homeowner reach out to the contractor for further updates. This case was postponed until September 18, providing the homeowner with the opportunity to resolve the permitting issues.

The second instance involved a homeowner who began renovations without obtaining the required permits. Frustrated by insufficient communication from city officials, the homeowner voiced confusion regarding the permit process. The magistrate recommended that the homeowner visit the city’s permitting office for support and scheduled a follow-up hearing for October 9.

Both instances highlight the ongoing challenges residents encounter when navigating the city’s permitting process, with officials encouraging homeowners to maintain consistent communication with both contractors and city personnel to expedite solutions.
