ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Today marks the start of a new school year across the Bay area.
Thousands of students will be heading back to schools in various counties throughout the region.
They will encounter a range of new schools, challenges, and educational focuses in their respective counties.
In Hillsborough, the largest school district in the Bay area, a brand new high school named Morgan High is opening its doors in Wimauma.
Among the Pinellas schools, Gulf Beaches Elementary is set to reopen for the first time since Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Meanwhile, in Manatee County, schools are kicking off the year as the district continues its search for a new superintendent.
