BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – Authorities are looking into a stabbing and shooting incident that occurred in the 5200 block of 60th Drive East in Bradenton.

Deputies responded to a call around 8 a.m. at a residence in the Silver Lake area. They discovered 21-year-old Dakota Hayes outside the house with two gunshot wounds, as indicated in a news release.
As deputies were approaching, Dakota’s brother, 24-year-old Willie Hayes, emerged from the home and stated he shot Dakota after witnessing his brother attack his girlfriend.
Inside the house, deputies found a 23-year-old woman in a bedroom suffering from multiple stab wounds.
They administered first aid until EMS arrived and transported both the woman and Dakota Hayes to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. They are currently hospitalized but are both expected to survive, according to the news release.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear, the news release stated.
No charges have been filed yet; the case is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office informed ABC7.
