A cybersecurity firm in Sarasota, TENEX.ai, has successfully raised $27 million in a Series A funding round, according to a statement made on September 11.

Located on Potter Park Drive, the company intends to utilize the funds to facilitate “aggressive expansion.” This includes accelerating the hiring of engineers, scaling sales and marketing efforts, and enhancing customer support services, as detailed in the statement.

The Series A funding was spearheaded by Crosspoint Capital Partners, based in California, with participation from existing investors including Silicon Valley venture capital firms like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Shield Capital, along with unidentified strategic investors. Andreessen Horowitz manages about $46 billion in assets and has previously invested in major tech companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and Airbnb.

TENEX.ai specializes in a managed detection and response (MDR) service that employs artificial intelligence to help organizations identify and tackle cyber threats. The service utilizes AI agents to “triage alerts, correlate signals, and initiate responses,” which are escalated to human operators as needed. The company asserts that the future of cybersecurity lies in “machine-scale decision-making” complemented by human supervision.

“We’re not here to build another tool. We’re here to reinvent the service layer of cybersecurity: agentic, autonomous, and scaled globally,” stated Eric Foster, CEO of TENEX.ai.

Founded in 2024, TENEX.ai aims to revolutionize enterprise security, as per their LinkedIn profile.

“In under a year, TENEX has secured multiple Fortune 500 and Global 2000 customers and developed a cutting-edge AI platform. The company has already surpassed $10 million in revenue and scaled operations worldwide,” commented Elias “Lou” Manousos, Chairman of TENEX and a former Microsoft executive.

“This funding fuels our momentum and establishes our position as a defining player in the Managed Detection and Response sector,” Manousos added. “The market is no longer questioning whether AI will transform MDR; TENEX is exemplifying the model that others will emulate.”
