Armed Suspect Who Fired at Deputies Found Deceased After Holding Up in Manatee County Residence

An armed suspect who barricaded inside a Manatee County home in the 800 block of 63rd Avenue West was found dead after a three-hour stand-off, according to deputies.

What we know:

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reported that detectives with its violent crimes task force were serving a search warrant when an individual behind a closed door opened fire, discharging multiple shots at deputies.

Deputies managed to seek cover and exited the home unharmed, according to officials.

Nearby homes were evacuated as the SWAT team attempted to engage with the suspect inside. However, following a standoff lasting over three hours, the SWAT team entered the residence and discovered the suspect deceased.

MCSO has closed 63rd Avenue West in both directions between 5th Street West and 13th Street West as the investigation remains ongoing.
